Teresa Cummings began working as a consultant in September, 1998 while working towards her Ph.D. in Chicago, Illinois. She continued to mentor, coach, and consult part-time until she began working as a full-time consultant in July 2016. In June, 2018, Teresa started Cummings and Associates Consulting, Inc.

Our Focus

Cummings and Associates Consulting, Inc. is focused on creating strategies and solutions for our clients that support student-, adult-, and community-centered decision-making. We are dedicated to improving educational organizations using our Holistic Systems Approach® process. We believe a strong focus on the health of an organization, from inside-out and outside-in, is necessary to create a seamless pipeline from PreK-to-career for children across the nation. We believe ALL children deserve a rigorous education that develops intellectual, social, and emotional capital as well as the skills needed to attain a living-wage job with a stackable career ladder.

Our mission is to provide tools to develop a system-wide collaborative environment that ensures district initiatives are created, implemented, and sustained using a holistic systems lens. Essential to this approach is the integration of the school system in the community and community integration in the school system. When the broader community is involved, together it builds bridges across classrooms, schools, and communities, overcoming barriers and maximizing growth.

Cummings and Associates Consulting, Inc’s combined educational experiences include classroom instruction, administration, education policy and research, board representation, and supporting alignment of K12 - career pipeline.

Teresa is a top expert in helping education systems drive critical organizational changes. She specializes in improving organizations through Holistic Systems Approach® processes and services. She has a passion for supporting Boards of Education and Superintendents to lead with a Whole child – Whole adult – Whole community approach and turnaround dysfunctional and chronically failing systems. Teresa holds a Ph.D. from the University of Illinois, Chicago, and has worked in the field of education for more than 29 years.

Her work as a teacher, administrator, and author of mathematics curricula has spanned the breadth of the education community from PreK-12 through community college and university levels. She has extensive experience in executive-level district administration, as well as research and development for various non-profits, Riverside County Office of Education, and the Stuart Foundation, including co-development of an organizational health review.

A Passion for Continuous Learning

Teresa has an ongoing commitment to developing her professional skills. She earned a California Single Subject Teaching Credential, a California Administrative Services Credential, a National Superintendents Academy Certificate, and a Leading Edge/Innovative Technology Administrator Certificate.

Teresa understands the unique experiences of a teacher because she served as a both a full-time teacher and a substitute teacher. In her roles as Physical Education Coordinator and Youth Development Specialist, she gained a perspective of the holistic approach needed in developing students’ mental, physical, emotional and social well-being.

Teresa’s education in Mathematics provided a solid background for the skills she uses today in analyzing and interpreting data. Moving from classroom teaching to administration in 2002, she has sharpened her organizational skills which give her the breadth of experience to advise School Boards, Superintendents, and Executive Cabinet members, as well as philanthropic and non-profit leadership.

Ultimately, Teresa has a passion for helping organizations rebuild their systems to support student success regardless of their zip code, the color of their skin, or the background of their family unit. She understands the importance of helping systems truly and authentically co-create alongside of families, students, staff, and communities they are in existence to serve.
